What does service and distribution mean in commercial electrical work?
The service is where utility power enters the building — the service entrance, metering, and main disconnect. Distribution is everything that carries power from there to the loads: switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, transformers, feeders, and busway. How long does commercial switchgear take to get?
Custom switchgear and switchboards are long-lead equipment — depending on the manufacturer and configuration, lead times can run from several months to a year or more. We identify long-lead gear during design with our in-house engineering and release it for order early, so the equipment arrives when the schedule needs it instead of stalling the project.
Can you upgrade an electrical service in an occupied building?
Yes. We phase service upgrades and re-feeds around operating facilities — temporary power, off-hours cutovers, and utility outage windows coordinated in advance — so tenants and production keep running while the amperage, gear, or feeders are increased.
Do you coordinate with TEP and Trico on new services?
Yes. We handle the utility side end to end: the service application, point-of-connection and available-capacity confirmation, CT metering and service-entrance equipment built to the utility's spec, and the scheduling of the meter set and release that energizes the building. How do I know what size electrical service my building needs?
Service size comes from an NEC Article 220 load calculation — connected loads, demand factors, and a realistic allowance for future growth. Our in-house engineering runs the load calc, sizes the service and feeders, and backs it with the short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies the gear has to be rated for — so you buy the capacity you need without paying for capacity you don't.
Do you install generators and automatic transfer switches?
Yes. We set generators, install automatic transfer switches and paralleling switchgear, and wire NEC Article 700 and 701 emergency and standby systems — including the load-shed controls and metering that keep critical loads powered through an Arizona monsoon outage. The life-safety loads those systems carry are part of the same scope.
