Field Trainers

Five interactive trainers built by our field team for apprentices, instructors and anyone getting ready for an inspection — conduit bending, a 480V disconnect in 3D, bonding jumper sizing, grounding electrode conductor sizing and three-phase transformer wiring. Free, no sign-up, nothing stored.

Five Trainers

Pick a trainer

Each one opens on its own page with what you will practice, the 2023 NEC sections behind it, the mistakes it is built to catch, and a note on running it in a class. They are the same trainers our how-to guides embed, framed full-width. Suggested session lengths are ours — take longer.

EMT bending · 3D layout

Conduit Bending Trainer: Bend Bench

Bender marks, take-up, multipliers and shrink for every common EMT bend, with a 3D model of the finished piece and a running degree budget for the run.

Plan 20 to 30 minutes for one bend family. 2023 NEC: 358.24, 358.26, 358.28(A).

480V Disconnect Wiring Trainer (3D)

The install order on a three-phase fusible disconnect — mounting, raceways, line on top, EGC, load out the bottom, lockout — with the motor and HVAC disconnect rules beside each step.

Plan about 15 minutes. 2023 NEC: 430.102(B), 430.110(A), 440.12 / 440.14.

Bonding Jumper Sizing Trainer

Which side of the first overcurrent device you are on, and therefore which table sizes the jumper: Table 250.102(C)(1) on the supply side, Table 250.122 on the load side.

Plan 20 to 25 minutes including the quiz. 2023 NEC: 250.24(B) and 250.28, 250.30(A)(1), Table 250.102(C)(1).

Grounding Electrode Conductor Sizing Trainer

What enters Table 250.66 (conductor area, paralleled sets summed — never the amperage), which cap applies to which electrode, and which splices, sleeves and clamps are permitted on the conductor.

Plan 25 to 40 minutes. 2023 NEC: Table 250.66, 250.66(A)–(C), 250.50 / 250.52.

Three-Phase Transformer Wiring Trainer

The connection sequence on a delta–wye transformer and the three conductors that land on X0: the neutral, the system bonding jumper, and the grounding electrode conductor of a separately derived system.

Plan about 15 minutes. 2023 NEC: Table 450.3(B), 240.21(C), 250.30(A)(1).

Calculators that pair with them

The trainers teach the method; these give you the number on a real job. Every one carries a “Send this to an estimator” button when you would rather have us price the work.

Read first

The guides behind them

Each trainer grew out of a step-by-step field guide. Read the guide, run the trainer, then take the calculator to the job. All of the guides are on the field guides page.
