We design, install, terminate, and commission controls for commercial and industrial facilities across Arizona — coordinated with our own underground, HVAC, and construction crews. Building & Lighting Controls

  • Networked lighting controls — Beyond a wall switch, networked lighting control manages an entire building's lighting from one system. We install and program the panels, sensors, and software that run it.
  • Building control systems — We install the controls that operate building systems on schedules and sequences, integrated with the lighting, power, and mechanical scopes.
  • Scheduling and zoning — We set up the schedules and zones so lighting and equipment run only when and where they are needed, saving energy and matching how the building is actually used.
  • Sequences of operation — We program the sequences of operation — the rules that tell the system what to do, when, and in what order — and verify they perform as designed.

Energy Management & Metering

  • Power and energy metering — You cannot manage what you do not measure. We install power and energy meters at the service and at key loads so usage is visible.
  • Monitoring and dashboards — We connect the metering to monitoring and dashboards so the facility team can track demand, cost, and anomalies in real time.
  • Demand and load management — We install controls that manage peak demand by shedding or staging loads, reducing demand charges and keeping the facility within its capacity.
  • Sub-metering — We install sub-metering by tenant, area, or system for accurate cost allocation and real energy accountability.

Motor Controls & Equipment Power

  • Motor control centers (MCCs) — MCCs centralize the starters and controls for a facility's motors. We install, bus, and wire MCCs and terminate the field connections.
  • Variable frequency drives (VFDs) — VFDs control motor speed to match demand, saving significant energy on pumps and fans. We install and wire VFDs and coordinate their startup.
  • Equipment power and disconnects — We provide power and local disconnects to mechanical equipment, production machinery, and process loads, coordinated with the equipment suppliers.
  • Instrumentation and wiring — We install instrumentation and control wiring — the sensors, transmitters, and field wiring that feed the control system.

HVAC Integration & Commissioning

  • HVAC controls interfaces — We provide the power, disconnects, and control interfaces that connect HVAC equipment to the building's controls.
  • Building-automation (BAS) integration — We integrate the equipment and controls into the building-automation system so HVAC, lighting, and power work together instead of in isolation.
  • System commissioning — We commission the controls — testing every point and sequence — so the system performs as designed before it is turned over.
  • Owner training and documentation — We train the owner's staff and hand over the documentation so they can operate and maintain the system with confidence.

What do building controls actually control?

The systems that use energy: lighting, HVAC equipment, motors and pumps, and plug and process loads. Controls put them on schedules and sequences, meter what they use, and give the facility team one place to see and manage it — instead of a building that runs everything at full tilt all day.

What is a VFD, and when is it worth installing?

A variable frequency drive adjusts motor speed to match actual demand instead of running full speed against a damper or valve. On fans and pumps, even modest speed reductions produce outsized energy savings, and the soft start reduces mechanical wear. Most motors that run long hours at varying load justify one — we install and integrate drives across our industrial electrical work in Tucson.

Do you integrate with building automation systems?

Yes. We install the power, interfaces, and control wiring that tie HVAC, lighting, and metering into the building-automation system, and we commission the integration so the systems work together — our own HVAC controls team handles the mechanical side of the same scope.

Can controls lower my demand charges?

Yes. Most commercial utility bills in Arizona carry demand charges based on your peak draw. Metering shows where the peaks come from; load-shed and staging controls keep large loads from stacking on top of each other. Shaving peaks is often the fastest payback in the controls scope.

What does controls commissioning include?

Point-to-point checkout of every sensor and device, verification of each sequence of operation against the design, functional testing under real conditions, and owner training with documentation — so the building runs as designed after we leave, not just the day we leave.

Are lighting controls required by code?

On most new construction and major renovations, yes — occupancy sensing, daylight response, and automatic shutoff under the IECC-based energy codes Arizona jurisdictions adopt. Replacing fixtures in a commercial LED lighting retrofit can trigger the same requirements. We design, install, and program lighting and lighting controls that pass plan review, and we document the compliance.
