Most homeowners end up with two companies and a gap between them. Arizona Electrical Solutions holds the air-conditioning licence (ROC CR-39) and the electrical licence (ROC CR-11), so the equipment, the circuit, the disconnect and the permit are one contract. What It Involves
A new condenser or heat pump comes with a nameplate that states its minimum circuit ampacity and maximum overcurrent protection. The circuit, the breaker and the disconnect have to match those numbers — and on a lot of Tucson homes the existing circuit was sized for a smaller, older unit. A higher-efficiency heat pump can need a different breaker than the one it replaces, and a change from gas heat to a heat pump adds load the service may not have.
That is why we look at the panel before we sell the equipment. If the service is at its limit, you should know that before the crane is booked, not after. When it is fine — which is most of the time — the circuit and the disconnect are replaced to match the new nameplate and the whole thing is inspected once.

Most change-outs are routine. These are the ones where holding both licences actually changes the outcome.
Electric heat strips and a heat pump compressor add real load. The service has to carry the winter peak as well as the summer one; we run the calculation before we recommend the switch.
Very common on Tucson homes. The circuit runs up the wall and across the roof, and the disconnect and receptacle up there are often the parts an inspector flags on old installs.
A full panel is not automatically a service upgrade. A subpanel or a load calculation on actual demand often solves it for far less.
New AC and a charger in the same year is a common Tucson combination. Sizing both at once, on one load calculation, avoids upgrading the service twice.
One Contract
When an HVAC company replaces a unit and hires an electrician for the circuit, nobody owns the whole thing. Schedules slip in the handoff, the electrician is quoting to a nameplate he has not seen, and if the breaker trips the first hot week each side points at the other.
We hold ROC CR-39 (air conditioning and refrigeration) and ROC CR-11 (electrical) in the same company. The load calculation is done once for the whole job, the circuit is sized to the equipment we are actually installing, and one crew is responsible for the result.
Permits & Utility
An AC change-out is permitted work in the City of Tucson, Pima County, Marana, Oro Valley and Sahuarita, and the electrical side is inspected with it. A surprising number of Tucson homes have an unpermitted unit on the roof; it becomes a problem at sale, when the buyer’s inspector compares the equipment to the permit record.

Both. Residential AC and heat-pump replacement is one of the two home jobs we take on — the other is the electrical panel or service upgrade that often goes with it. We hold the ROC CR-39 air-conditioning licence and the ROC CR-11 electrical licence, so the equipment and its circuit are one contract.
Often the circuit is fine and only the disconnect or breaker changes to match the new nameplate. Sometimes the new unit — especially a heat pump replacing a gas furnace — draws more than the old circuit or the service can carry. We check the nameplate against the panel before we quote, so you know either way.

Yes, in every Tucson-area jurisdiction. The mechanical permit covers the equipment and the electrical permit covers the circuit and disconnect. We pull both and meet the inspector.
Yes, and it is usually cheaper to do together. One load calculation covers the new AC and anything else you are planning, the utility disconnect is coordinated once, and the two permits are inspected in one sequence.
No. We are a scheduled, permitted-work contractor, not an emergency dispatcher. If your unit has died in July we will get to a replacement quote quickly, but we do not run a night-time repair truck.
