Industrial and warehouse work is about capacity, reliability, and keeping production running. These facilities draw large, specialized loads and cannot tolerate unplanned downtime. Power Distribution & Service Upgrades

  • Heavy distribution and switchgear — Industrial facilities need robust distribution. We install switchgear, switchboards, busway, and panelboards sized for large motor loads and future expansion, all torqued and tested to spec.
  • Service and capacity upgrades — When a plant adds a line or outgrows its service, we increase the amperage, add gear, and re-feed the facility — often phased around production so the floor never goes fully dark.
  • Transformers and feeders — We set transformers and route the heavy feeders that move power across a large building, sized by our in-house engineering for the real connected load.
  • Power quality and reliability — We address grounding, bonding, and power quality so sensitive equipment and drives run clean — backed by short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies.

Equipment & Machine Power

  • Machine connections and disconnects — We land power to production machinery, conveyors, compressors, and process equipment — furnishing the disconnects, circuits, and connections each machine's nameplate requires.
  • Motor controls and VFDs — We install motor control centers, starters, and variable-frequency drives that start, protect, and modulate the motors that run the plant.
  • Bus duct and flexible distribution — For floors where equipment moves and changes, we install plug-in busway so machines can be repowered and relocated without rewiring the whole bay.
  • Equipment installs and relocations — When a line is added, moved, or retooled, we disconnect, relocate, and reconnect the power — coordinated to minimize the production hours lost.

High-Bay & Warehouse Lighting

  • LED high-bay lighting — We install energy-efficient LED high-bay lighting that delivers the foot-candles a working warehouse needs at the floor, the racks, and the pick faces.
  • Lighting controls and occupancy sensing — Aisle-by-aisle occupancy sensing and zoned controls cut energy use by lighting only the spaces in use — a major operating-cost saver in a large building.
  • Rack-aligned and task lighting — We coordinate fixture layout with the racking so light reaches down the aisles instead of being blocked, and add task lighting at packing and assembly stations.
  • LED retrofits of existing facilities — For older warehouses, we retrofit dated HID lighting to LED — lower energy bills, better light, and far less maintenance, often with utility rebate paperwork handled.

Controls, Automation & Monitoring

  • Building and energy management — We install controls and metering that let operators see and manage energy use across the facility, shedding and prioritizing loads where it counts.
  • Process and equipment controls integration — We wire and integrate controls between equipment, PLCs, and building systems so the plant's automation talks together.
  • Power monitoring and metering — Sub-metering by area or line shows where the power is going — essential for cost allocation, efficiency, and catching problems early.
  • Standby power for critical operations — For processes that cannot lose power, we install generators, transfer switches, and standby systems that keep critical loads running through an outage.

Self-Performed, End to End

Heavy power and heavy dirt, one crew

Industrial projects have two halves that a generic commercial GC subcontracts twice: the heavy gear inside the building and the heavy civil outside it. We self-perform both — which is why our schedules hold.

The service and the gear

A plant that adds a line or a warehouse that racks higher rarely has the service to feed it. We run the load calculation, size the new service and distribution gear — switchboards, transformers, busway, panelboards — and install it ourselves, torqued, tested, and documented. The MCCs and VFDs that run conveyors, compressors, and process equipment land on the same drawings and the same crew, so nothing is lost between the engineer, the gear vendor, and the installer.

The dirt between the buildings

Industrial power rarely stays inside one wall. Long feeder runs, duct banks to outbuildings, dock and yard power, gate operators, site lighting — all of it crosses truck courts underground. Most electrical subs stop at the trench line and wait on an excavation contractor. We own the Cat fleet and employ the certified operators, so the trench, the conduit, and the conductors are one scope on one schedule.

Phased around live production

The hard constraint on industrial work is not the gear — it is the calendar of a plant that cannot stop. We build new distribution alongside the old, take shutdowns in windows the plant approves, and cut over area by area so the floor keeps producing while the backbone changes underneath it. The crew that opens a shutdown is the crew that closes it.

Why one crew matters

Every handoff a GC brokers between an electrical sub and a dirt sub is a place for the schedule to slip and the price to grow. On our industrial projects there is no handoff — the same company engineers the one-line, digs the duct bank, sets the gear, terminates the feeders, and stands at the inspection. When the utility, the inspector, or the plant manager has a question, one phone number answers it.

What size electrical service does a warehouse or manufacturing plant need?

There is no reliable rule of thumb — it comes down to an NEC Article 220 load calculation built from real equipment: machine nameplates, HVAC, lighting, and process loads, plus demand factors and room to grow. Our in-house engineers run that calculation, then size the service and gear with spare capacity, because an industrial service is far cheaper to oversize once than to upgrade twice.

What are MCCs and VFDs, and when does a facility need them?

A motor control center (MCC) gathers a plant's motor starters, drives, and protection into one organized lineup instead of scattering them across the floor. A variable-frequency drive (VFD) modulates motor speed to match the load — saving energy and easing mechanical wear on conveyors, compressors, pumps, and fans. Facilities running that kind of rotating equipment usually need both, and our industrial electricians install, wire, and commission them.

Is a high-bay LED retrofit worth it for an older warehouse?

Almost always. Metal-halide and fluorescent high-bays burn energy every operating hour and dim long before they fail. LED high-bays cut the lighting load sharply, hold their output, and pair with aisle-by-aisle occupancy sensing so empty rack rows sit dark. We design and self-perform LED lighting retrofits across Tucson, with photometrics and utility rebate paperwork handled.

Who handles the trenching for dock, yard, and site power?

We do — with our own iron. Dock levelers, gate operators, yard lighting, and guard shacks all need power run underground across truck courts, and that trenching is usually the first thing an electrical sub farms out. We self-perform trenching and underground work with an owned Cat fleet and certified operators, so the site power never waits on an excavation subcontractor.

Can you work in an operating facility without stopping production?

Yes — on industrial work that is the norm, not the exception. We build new distribution alongside the old, schedule tie-ins and shutdowns for nights, weekends, and planned maintenance windows, and cut over area by area so only one zone is ever down. Every shutdown is planned with the plant in writing before a breaker opens.

How do you coordinate a large industrial service with TEP or Trico?

Large services live or die on utility lead time. We submit the application early, work TEP's design and metering standards from day one, and build the civil scope — trench, conduit, transformer pad — to spec so utility inspection passes the first time.
